NY Times - Leighton Meester

This has done nothing to extinguish my love of Gossip Girl and its actors. Love.

A note.

I recently received a rather nasty comment (which I chose not to publish), telling me that I was being insensitive, unfair, and other such things, because I had posted a RIP post for Farrah Fawcett, but not for Michael Jackson.

Any death is sad and unexpected, and can cause a range of emotions, even if you did not know the deceased personally. Some may argue that Farrah's passing was expected, and she was 'older', so therefore not as deserving of publicity as Michael Jackson's unexpected and tragic death, and he had given so much to Entertainment industry, rather than someone like Farrah, who had been famous as an icon in the 70s.

I am not about to compare two deaths. I am very sorry for the passing of MJ, but I am not going to adjust my posts under pressure from others. If you search google, 58,400,000
results appear from 'Michael Jackson Death', but only 6,700,000 for 'Farrah Fawcett Death'.

My whole point is that I cannot begin to compare death. I posted a RIP for Farrah, because I was particularly fond of her from the 70s, but was not so much a fan of Michael Jackson, though I did amire him for his success. I write my blog for a hobby, not to please my readers (however, I am SUPER greatful that you do bother to visit, and leave comments - you keep me motivated).

I hope this has cleared a couple of things up for 'Anonymous'.

Farewell

RIP to Farrah Fawcett, a real 70s style icon. Let you be at peace, after your long battle with cancer.

Louboutin F/W Ad Campaign

This ad campaign really grabbed my attention. They were shot by Peter Lippmann, and styled by Amandine Moine. They show luxury at its greatest, and are associated by 17th and 18th century still life artworks.

Beautiful.

New Purchase

Recently purchased - FCUK Sequin Serpent Dress, BNWOT from a friend online :)

Looks gorgeous on, and drapes really well! It isn't too short, which I like, and I can layer it with tights and a cardi for winter. Very happy with it!

Oh, and the marks are on the mirror, not the dress. Apologies for my messy room, I'm in the process of a huge cleanup, and just finished my crosstrainer workout, which explains my shoes in the background.

PS - Also purchased - the little owl hanging off my phone. Love it.

Vanity Fair exhibition

I recently went to the National Portrait Gallery, where the Vanity Fair exhibition is being held. I work quite close to the Portrait Gallery, and went in my lunch break. Entry fee was $10, which I'd definitely pay for again, as I enjoyed this!

The exhibition included covers and editorials for Vanity Fair since 1913, by famous photographers.

If you are close by, definitely go see this!

Not included, thankfully, was Miley Cyrus' recent controvercial Vanity Fair portrait:

I'm looking to update my blogs list to the right. If you would like me to link you, or exhange links, please comment. I'm always looking for new blogs, so please comment if you have a blog and would like me to have a look :)

HUGE Makeup collection

I came accross this, and had to post it. How much would this be worth?

Seems so wasteful.. but I'm still so amazed at it.

Witchery Man

My other half doesn't have the best fashion sense. He tries, but sometimes he needs a little help, which he knows, and asks for. After he asked me to find him some new clothes that would suit his classic but casual look, I didn't look past Witchery Man. Here are my picks that I will suggest to him. What do you think?

Verigated Stripe Shirt - On sale for $89.95

Broken Rib Knit - On sale for $129.95

Miu Miu Basket Bag

This took my interest whilst browsing net-a-porter.

Instead of plastic, like the regular shopping basket bags you can get in any $2 shop, this Miu Miu version is made from patent leather.

Its so unnecessery.. but I'm so drawn to it! I would team it with an all-black, or black and white outfit, with red shoes.

Would you pay $920 AUD for this? A definite lemming which will never come true...

American Apparel

It's not often I venture into the American Apparel site (I don't live close to an actual store). I've never liked their advertising methods, but the recent articles about AA employees featuring in ads and posing in highly sexual poses) reminded me of this brand where I once bought a basic oversized t-shirt from, which I still have & enjoy, and is of good quality, and not made in sweat shops.

From my recent browse, here is what I would purchase if I had the spare moolah -

Two-sided leggings - I am a fan of leggings, NOT wearing them as pants of course, but for layering under dresses and letting me bring some of my summer wardrobe to winter. These just appeal to me, I'm not too sure why.

Plaid leggings - I love plaid. I have a few plaid scarves, and used to have a plaid jacket, but I really like these plaid leggings, as they are a lighter, and have more demure shades than other plaid patterns I have seen around. I would layer this with a grey jersey dress I have (don't know where it is at the moment though, so I can't photograph it!)

Opaque Two Colour Patyhose - Again, I love split coloured leggings. There are several colours to choose from, but I would get the black and white ones. Call me boring, but the Lime/Turquoise version would be a little *too* loud for me.

Alphabet T-shirt - H is my first initial, and I just like this style, for casual wear, and I think I could pull it off with some layering and the right scarf, and straight/skinny jeans.

Light weight raglan pullover - I love oversize tops, and this is such a gorgeous colour.

On reflection, though, I don't like any of them enough to purchase them (and personally, I don't think AA has the best prices for basic pieces.

Emma Watson for Burberry

There is a new face for Burberry's Fall/Winter 2009-2010 Collection, and it is none other than Harry Potter cutie, Emma Watson. The ads were shot by Mario Testino, in Central London, near Burberry Headquarters.

I think she looks fantastic, and is an excellent choice for this much coveted role. She is a classic beauty, and a good role model because she hasn't gone down the same path as other child stars such as Lindsay Lohan.

Very pleased.

MTV Music Awards 2009 - Fashion Hits and Misses

Hits

As much as I don’t like her, Sienna Miller looked fabulous in a Fall 2009 dress from her own label Twenty8Twelve, a Chanel clutch, and Nicholas Kirkwood heels.

Megan Fox just looked so… good. Not sure about the hair, But I love the Dolce&Gabbana dress and Christian Louboutin heels.

Hayden Panettiere looked amazing in this Emanuel Ungaro dress. I love the detailing at the bottom.

I’m surprised to have this as a hit, but this look just works for her. Supposedly she wore the Converse due to an ankle injury. Dress by Yigal Azrouel.

I really like cut-out dresses, on people who can pull them off. Leighton Meester can. Dress by Emilio De La Morena and boots by Brian Atwood.

Misses

This look just didn’t work for Lauren Conrad.

Miley Cyrus’ outfit made her look too boring, especially for her age.

This colour doesn’t compliment Paris at all. However, it is a HUGE improvement on what she wore to the 2007 MTV Awards. See below.

Vanessa Hudgens looked like she was off to bed, not at an awards show! Dress by Max Azria and Heels by Jimmy Choo. I have to give it to her though, the colour suits her beautifully.

How could I not include this? Miss Miss Miss.

------------------------

Just thought I’d add – How much has cute little Abigail Breslin grown? She’s wearing heels and all! I’ve loved her since she was little.

Prescriptives Camouflage Cream

After reading a review of Prescriptives Camouflage Cream at http://www.beauticology.com/, I decided to purchase it. I was not dissapointed! This is a lovely concealer. It is quite a thin formula, but with medium-full buildable coverage. I bought the lightest shade, Blue/Red Light. I often have problems with foundations/concealers being too dark for my ultra pale skin with pink undertones (even MAC NC15 is sometimes too dark for me), but this does the trick.

I have terrible dark circles under my eyes, and redness around my nose, and some blemishes, especially in winter.

So far, it has stood the test of time, and is still there at the end of a long day.

I do have a bit of dryness around my nose, so I make sure to moisturise thoroughly before applying it.

It has varying reviews on Makeupalley, but I am giving it the thumbs up.

I bought mine at Mecca for $40.

I love the more ‘solid’ and ‘tough’ boots that are shown, such a change from slouch, or stiletto boots!

Australian Clothing Sizing Irregularities

I've just come accross this report by Choice about the irregularities in womens' clothing sizing in Australia. It's quite interesting, so take a look if you are interested -

http://www.choice.com.au/viewArticle.aspx?id=106887

That is all.

Recent Purchases & Predicaments

Hello lovelies.

I made a couple of purchases over the weekend; actually my dear mother paid for them for me!

I was in desperate need of a new wallet, and got one from Urban Originals from DJs, which was 10% off.

I also was on the lookout for a winter jacket. I found one in Globalize, of all places. My photos didn’t turn out, and I can’t find a photo online. Apricot Alley is the brand, and it is a black brushed suede double breasted coat. I must have tried on close to twenty different coats before coming across this one, which fitted perfectly and was exactly the right length I was looking for. It was $129.

I’ve also recently got into wearing scarves as accessories. Until recently, I never knew how to wrap them around my neck without looking silly, and often admired those who could pull this look off easily. I bought one black and red scarf from Sportsgirl, and a black and white one from DJs. I’m definitely on the lookout for a few more, hopefully some nicer ones too.

On the possibly moving to Melbourne issue, It looks like it will be happening! I am very, very excited.. the shopping, culture, food… I could go on and on. I love Melbourne. My mum is planning on moving there later this year, and I will probably follow her a few months later. The only thing which I am truly not looking forward to however, is breaking the news to my boy. He isn’t one for long distance relationships, nor am I, so if I move, that would be the end of us. I haven’t told him yet. I don’t want to throw away such an amazing oppourtunity to live in such a great city, but I don’t want to end a perfectly good relationship chasing after possibilities.. I am truly all over the place with my thoughts at the moment. Then there is the issue of quitting my job (which is very secure – a good thing the way the economy is at the moment), and the possibility to study part time through my current job, with them helping out financially. Oh decisions. I have no idea what to do. Have you ever faced a similar predicament? If so, please tell me your experiences.
